About Little Big India Tours

Little Big India is India's vibrancy made manifest, carried through the talented heart, mind and hands of Anita Susanne Börjesson.

Born in Stockholm and raised in the south of Sweden, Anita studied International Economics at the University of Gothenburg before moving to London, where she spent most of the 1980s. She had loved clothes and street fashion since childhood, and being creative and self-taught, she designed and sewed her own pieces, eventually selling a few to local boutiques.

From 1988 onward, Anita lived and travelled across the globe, spending long chapters of her life in Geneva, London, Indonesia, Sydney, Venezuela, Paris, the Canary Islands and India, before settling in Palma de Mallorca in 2005. Along the way she built a career across many worlds: managing private hotels and residences, running location catering, and working in corporate communication, marketing and public relations.

In 2008, a long-held desire brought her travelling through India, and moving across the subcontinent, she fell in love with its warmth, its people and its extraordinary textiles. She gathered fabrics, garments and jewellery from every region she visited, searching for a reason, a legitimate excuse, to keep returning. The answer came naturally: she would travel to source fabric and material, then create clothes and accessories throughout India.

In 2009, Anita opened her first shop in Palma de Mallorca, expanding a year later into larger premises on the same street.

From 2010, she supplied handmade, high end Indian garments to a number of prestigious stores, most notably the Boutique at Hotel Cap Rocat.

In 2018, the hotel's owner, the celebrated architect and interior designer Antonio Obrador, entrusted her with co-creating and curating the Boutique. Together they designed a full line of clothing and accessories, and Anita continued to curate the space until 2023. 

In June 2022, Anita opened Little Big India in Palma's Old Town, bringing in a new generation of young Indian designers whose innovative, sustainable labels deserved a wider stage. At the end of 2025 she decided to close all retail spaces in order to concentrate on curated trips to India.

She continues to sell her collections through private showrooms, with a large selection also available at RA MA Yoga Institute in Palma.

Today, Anita's focus lies in creating and guiding curated Textile Tours through India, centred on the artisans of Rajasthan and Gujarat, with tailored itineraries available to suit each traveller's wishes.
